Meet our Magnificent Makers
Little Inventors wants children to open their eyes to the world of invention and creativity. But beyond the invention drawings, there is a unique opportunity for children and makers, designers and artists to come together and collaborate to bring children’s imagination to life.
By taking children’s ideas seriously and presenting them in a professional manner through collaboration with skilled makers, we will help showcase children’s original ideas, perspectives and voices.
We also want to challenge the skills and experience of adult makers, and encourage them to push beyond their own limits by engaging with the highly imaginative and unhindered minds of young children.

I run Chalk, an arts organisation based in Gateshead. The organisation was created in 2015 as a reaction to a gap in provision for children and their families to enjoy high quality art, music and film experiences which were unexpected and ambitious. With a strong focus on engaging both the parent and the child the organisation has developed a vast portfolio of innovative collaborations and commissions carried out with arts organisations in the region.
Chalk are the producers of MAPS Festival, a festival of music, art and play which takes place in venues across Newcastle/Gateshead in February each year.
I was inspired by TV shows like Bitsa when I was a kid. It was like Blue Peter, but more 'punk' - and even though I've had a very unconventional route into Design and Engineering, I find that this pace to fast making/ideation is what I love most. People are always core to whatever I make, be it solving a known need, or as a provocation to create something entirely different.
My work is often based on research, once I've selected a subject. I look for the quirky and how I can use this as a narrative in my work. The quirkyness often inspires the choice of materials.
I have been making things for nearly a decade now. I've made everything from rubber band powered airplanes to robots that draw.
I'm very much into problem solving and I am involved with the hack613 makerspace in Ottawa.
I treat every project as a unique, colorful journey. I love to use illustrations to give a topic different perspective, to combine content and form for making something new. I draw, paint, tear, stick, remake to see what more I can say.
The thing I love the most is combining art and science. I can't get over how far we've come as a species, so I feel grateful whenever I can make a project about technology, philosophy or natural sciences. I want to use my skills to interest everyone about amazing subjects and inspire to ask questions.
I'm 19 and studying product design at Edinburgh Napier. I'm interested in all aspects of design as I enjoy being creative and expressing my ideas.
I gained an Mdes in 3D Design and Craft at Brighton University where I specialised in ceramics and plastics. I have been working as a design and technology technician for the past three years in secondary schools. I love to help kids problem solve to come up with new creative ideas!
This is Takeshi from Japan.
I am very exited to explore to materialize children's dream utilizing their super creativity!
After the BA in Media Design, the road has always been uphill and full of discoveries.
My life is a constant search for new challenges, not only to be able to take care of my family but also to improve myself. I would always like to learn new skills in order to become a more complete professional figure.
I could list you a million skills and characteristics, the truth is, I put passion into every little job. I like taking care of every line I draw.
