Meet our Magnificent Makers
Little Inventors wants children to open their eyes to the world of invention and creativity. But beyond the invention drawings, there is a unique opportunity for children and makers, designers and artists to come together and collaborate to bring children’s imagination to life.
By taking children’s ideas seriously and presenting them in a professional manner through collaboration with skilled makers, we will help showcase children’s original ideas, perspectives and voices.
We also want to challenge the skills and experience of adult makers, and encourage them to push beyond their own limits by engaging with the highly imaginative and unhindered minds of young children.
Do you make things?Join the fun!

I am an illustrator and author of children's books and I like to think that I have the best job in the world! I graduated from Kingston Uni in 1998 and have since worked hard in my studio for days, weeks, months and years. I love creating characters and sketching out stories as well as being involved in LOTS of other creative projects with young people. When I'm not in my studio , I'm regularly found visiting schools and libraries and events inspiring children. I often get to travel around the UK and visit other countries doing what I love!
The Whippet Up way works with the wider community to devise and develop projects. In the past year this has seen Whippet Up get creative with science, and run interactive science days for children and families. Helped people find their inner Viking and then go to the moon with performances and interactive experiences. We have build a lunar module on a tricycle and a space craft on a horse carriage. Discovered unknown facts about Antartica that have been developed into installations around penguins and explorers.
I started animating in 2D, working on motion graphics. After 3 years I decided to pick up 3D modelling and have since learnt to rig, animate and render for 3D animations.
I’m continuing to challenge myself with new styles of design and animation.
I'm an Animation student in my final year of study, specialising in 3D animation and character design. I love creating stories within animation, and having a unique and aesthetically pleasing style that engages my audience!
My main skill is 3D animation, but I am starting to tinker with programming and electronics to bring my own inventions into the real world. I love to spend my time making things and learning new techniques to make things!
I’m an animator based in North East England. My work is a mix of arts residencies and projects with communities, collaborations with other artists, work in schools, developing independent film productions, creating animated work for television, theatre and festivals, designing artwork, illustrations and promotional material, and producing film content for online education resources.
I'm currently studying Animation at Northumbria Uni! I love sketching and bringing ideas to life using 3D software because of how there's no limit to what you can make.
I design stuff for people to make and sell to other people!
Working with Octo Design, I’ve created products for lots of very different companies.
I'm a product designer with a keen interest in the creative process. That means I’m often involved in projects from day one, helping to shape those initial seeds of ideas through to something compelling.
I'm also a mechanical engineer who likes to make things. That helps me work out how things will work and how we can make them a reality!
Hi! I manage Fab Lab Blackburn at The Making Rooms where we develop products and help people learn new technologies.
My background is in Computer Science and Educational Electronics, and helped develop CodeBug for teaching anyone how to code. I have been involved in maker spaces for the past decade.
