Little Inventors wants children to open their eyes to the world of invention and creativity. But beyond the invention drawings, there is a unique opportunity for children and makers, designers and artists to come together and collaborate to bring children’s imagination to life.
By taking children’s ideas seriously and presenting them in a professional manner through collaboration with skilled makers, we will help showcase children’s original ideas, perspectives and voices.
We also want to challenge the skills and experience of adult makers, and encourage them to push beyond their own limits by engaging with the highly imaginative and unhindered minds of young children.

Hi, my name is Joe Johnston. Im currently studying Product design at Edinburgh Napier University. I love making up new worlds and creatures to keep me busy.
I was raised on a bicycle in Amsterdam,
but I’m currently studying graphic design in Chicago.
I like to draw, (spray)paint, construct, design and write things!
I am a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist focused on Digital 2D & 3D Animation, as well as Traditional & Digital Painting.
I have over a year of freelance art experience, accompanied by over 3 years of costumer assistance.
I am 4th Year student at Edinburgh Napier, currently working with the Scottish event, The Exhibition for Wee Inventors. We are exhibiting inventions from Oxgangs Primary school here in Edinburgh.
• Coordinated Science activities across Grades 1-5 (Primary level).
• Selected to be a part of a team of inspectors for the review of other GEMS schools.
• Mentored colleagues by exhibiting ‘best practices’ to maximize teaching-learning experiences through model lessons.
• Taught students of Grades 4, 5 and 6 using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual aids, learning applications (such as Padlet, Microsoft One Note, Plickers, QR code etc.) and field study.
I am a teacher taking over a new role as STEM leader and I would like to develop my pupils inventions skills
My father was a clock repairer and my uncle was a bin man so, as a 6 year old boy, I’d take things they gave me to pieces and make spaceships, rockets and robots out of the bits. Now I have a business making found object artworks (predominantly robots) and, with some of them, I use my electronic skills to give them functions such as being a light, a music player or an audio/visual sculpture. I also teach kids how to make sculptures out of WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment)
