edible trophy

Lerdian didn't show up to the exhibition to see his invention but i'm sure he would have been as happy as I am with the outcome. However, the exhibition was really good to collaborate with other people in my elective, especially with those who done animations and film related outcomes as that is something I don't really know how to do, I asked them a few questions and found it interesting knowing their process.

during the making of my piece I was posting how my work was going on my design instagram @taniastalent. I think it's good to have your work out there and social media is one of the best ways to do that because in todays day everyone uses social media, especially instagram. I have attatched everything together and everything is working and I am very happy

I created all the shapes I needed with the felt for the tomato, lettuce and cheese. And stuffed my beef and bun with toy stuffing to give it some depth and height. I then would place each thing on top of each other whilst seeing a line of thread through the middle to connect it all. I am really happy with the outcome. The burger is as tall as my box which means when attatched to the spring it will jump out quite high. Very happy with my outcome

So I printed my final design in the print shop and cut all around it and folded it together so it’s a box. Now that this part is done I have to make the jumping burger which will come out the box. I decided to use felt as it’s a soft material and easy to work with, also there is loads of choice of colours in hobby craft and a burger is very colourful. I also bought toy filling so I can stuff certain sections of my burger. I made a spring with wire and I have all my components to start making. I did come across a problem because I had the initial idea to stick sticks into the top and that would hold the box together and then when you take the sticks out the box opens and the burger jumps out. However, that failed so I need to get hold of Velcro strips so I can use that as an opening and closing section for my box

for the past week I have been focusing on the design process and designing the characters and scenes for my box. It is now complete and happy to show it

I have set the scene with the space elements I designed and cut out the box to see how it would look because I learned from my course that seeing things on paper makes a difference . From my previous post you can see that the story board is empty so I have written a story out and written and drawn what will be in each box. My next step is to design these story boards and put them on my template

To make the template I went to McDonald’s and bought a happy meal so I could open the box flat and trace the outline of it. After I cut it with a scalpel and scored it so I could fold every part. I then photographed it and went over the lines on illustrator so it becomes digital

For the past week I have been doing the digital designs of my box, the story that Lersion made up will be all around the box in comic like boxes. I have not figured out the story part yet but I have set the scene all around the box. I set the scene by designing the 11 planets, stars, rockets and 2 massive burgers which will basically be the handle of the box. Just like a mc donalds happy meal box, instead of having the 'm' I have 2 burgers.

whilst annotating some ideas I thought of another idea that I'm really happy with and going to stick too. An astroid jack in the box where the burger will jump out of the box (astroid) attached to the box will be a children's book with only a few pages of the story Lersion invented that allows you to gain this burger. 

on the last page of the book there will be a twisty thing that you have to twist (makes you loose calories) and then eventually the burger pops out of the box.

I had another idea that I could possibly create a children's book if this story line Lersion has designed. Since I am a graphics student, I thought it would be interesting to take it into the route I am studying.
