Young inventors at Epinay School create climate-saving ideas
Students at Epinay Business and Enterprise School in South Shields have been turning their imaginations towards the planet, creating inventive solutions to environmental challenges as part of the Climate Action Heroes challenge from Little Inventors.
The workshops were delivered by Little Inventors in association with Dogger Bank Wind Farm and South Tyneside Council, inviting pupils to think creatively about how we can care for the Earth and protect the future.
During the sessions, students explored the idea that anyone can be an inventor, before designing their own imaginative solutions to climate and environmental problems. From clever machines that reduce pollution to inventions that help animals and nature thrive, the young inventors came up with a wide range of thoughtful and original ideas.
Working together with the Little Inventors team, the students then brought their ideas to life by building prototype models of their inventions using craft materials – transforming their drawings into colourful physical creations.
The workshops were adapted to ensure every student could take part, focusing on creativity, collaboration and the joy of seeing their ideas take shape.
Craig Bright, General Manager at Little Inventors, said:
It was fantastic to see the students at Epinay bringing their imagination and creativity to such an important topic. Every child has brilliant ideas when given the chance to express them, and it was wonderful to see how thoughtfully the pupils approached the challenge of caring for the planet.
The Climate Action Heroes challenge encourages children to imagine inventions that could make the world a better place by tackling environmental issues and protecting the natural world.
The ideas created during the workshops will now form part of the wider Climate Action Heroes challenge, which has been engaging young people across South Tyneside and beyond.
