Here it is, 1 backpack, 4 huge tentacles, on display and ready to go! (Picture taken before it was tried on and put to the test by a large group all eager to try it on) but hey, thats what it's for! I think it's fair to say Alex was rather chuffed with it, as was I that it lived up to his original drawing!
Exhibition day grows closer and closer, it's time to make sure the poster for this amazing invention is ready to go!
This Drill proved to be very difficult to make! I started by drawing and cutting out a large semi circle of card and pulling both sides in together to make the cone shape, and then had to cut a big card spiral to go round and round the cone from top to bottom
Now that I've made the two claw attachments I can work on the two more specialised attachments, the first being the big digger arm!
Now the arms are done I can work on the attachments, two of them will be long claw like grabbers for holding onto tools like pickaxes and shovels!
I've stuck large strips of ductape to the pool noodles in order to make them half yellow half grey like Alex had drawn originally!
Testing out having the pool noodles in the backpack for the first time! I think it works great, can't believe how big it is!
I've just finished cutting the holes in the backpack, I've but rings around the holes to tidy them up and hold the pool noodles firmly in place!
Adding 3D elements to the poster to make it come to life.
These are some little versions of the tunnel digging tools that I've made with card in order to make sure I know how I'm going to build them!
Here's the completed poster of Doc ock and his brand new tunnel digging arms in action! With the team underground background
I've been drawing illustrations of Doc ock hard at work underground for the digital poster. I've drawn the picture on paper in thick black lines so that I can scan it and colour it in digitally.
Drawing a more in depth look at the different parts of the machinery!
I've done a quick little sketch of Alex's design just to get a feel for how everything will fit together. Looking forward to getting these tentacles made in real life!
Brainstorming how to bring Team Underground's designs to life. I'm Thinking some yellow pool noodles are going to work great for doc ocks tunnel digging arms!
