The Lost & Found Office of Oddities will be joining the celebrations at This is South Tyneside Summer Parade, a colourful, family-friendly event bringing together local community groups, schools, performers and entertainers.
This year’s parade theme is Wild and Wonderful – Colours of Our Community, celebrating the creativity, vibrancy and diversity of South Tyneside. The parade will set off from South Shields Market Square at 1pm, making its way along King Street and Ocean Road towards the seafront and Bents Park, where we will be to contribute to an afternoon of family entertainment .
The Lost & Found Office of Oddities is responsible for the careful collection, cataloguing and investigation of unusual items found, donated or handed in over the years.
Our dedicated Office staff will be attending the event with a selection of strange and puzzling objects from the archive. Visitors will be invited to inspect the items, offer their theories, share any expert knowledge they may have, and help us answer the important questions: What is it? Where did it come from? Who might have used it? And what on earth might it do?
From curious contraptions to mysterious artefacts, every item has a story waiting to be uncovered. Funny, intriguing and highly interactive, The Lost & Found Office of Oddities invites visitors of all ages to become investigators, inventors and accidental experts in the unexplained.
Come and find us during the event — the Office staff will be looking for sharp eyes, curious minds and anyone willing to help solve the mystery of the unexplained.
The Lost & Found Office of Oddities will also be popping up at a range of other events, and running a series of workshops in Family Hubs, in South Tyneside this summer.
