Powering the Future Workshops at The Word

The Word, National Centre for the Written Word is South Tyneside's state-of-the-art cultural venue. In other words, the perfect place for a creative workshop!

Hot on the heels of our Powering the Future challenge in primary schools across South Tyneside, we ran a series of workshops in local libraries this summer to get creative cogs turning and ignite some imaginations!

Funded by the new, extraordinary Dogger Bank Wind Farm being constructed off the North East coast, the workshops explored renewable energy, how it works, and why it is a crucial part of the solution to climate change. 

We challenged kids in the workshops to use their imagination to create new ways to generate renewable energy and learn prototyping techniques to bring inventions to life.

The workshops took place August 6th and August 31st and were available to children of primary school age, accompanied by an adult.
