Making Waves: Inventing for a better ocean! Challenge
Making Waves: Inventing for a better ocean was presented to the children of South Tyneside, in partnership with Dogger Bank Wind Farm and South Tyneside Council.
Dogger Bank Wind Farm is in the process of becoming the world’s largest offshore wind farm. It will be capable of powering 6 million British homes. The project will generate a vast source of renewable energy, harnessing the power of wind to provide sustainable energy and reducing the use of fossil fuels.
Key Stage 1 - 3 pupils took on an invention challenge created for their age group, focusing on the role of the ocean and all life within it. The challenges encouraged children to expand their skills in STEM learning and broadened their knowledge of oceans and how it is essential to all life on Earth.
As the children got creative and innovative in their ideas, they learned how their contributions could develop technology and improve the environment in years to come.
Three ideas - one from each key stage - were brought to life by an expert team of makers!
