JOY LAB School Workshops at Culture House

Sunderland, U.K.

Throughout September, we welcomed more than 425 pupils from 17 schools to Culture House for a packed programme of JOY LAB invention workshops.

Running four workshops every Monday and Tuesday from 14 September until the end of the month, young people were challenged to imagine:

What can you invent to bring a moment of happiness to someone’s day?

Pupils explored how inventions could help people feel happier, calmer, more connected or simply make them smile, before developing and drawing their own wonderfully imaginative ideas.

With the JOY LAB exhibition taking place alongside the workshops, they could also see how other people’s ideas had been transformed from simple drawings into real-life inventions.

The response was fantastic. Pupils threw themselves into the challenge and the feedback from participating schools was brilliant.

A huge thank you to all of the young inventors, teachers and schools who joined us and brought so much creativity - and joy - to Culture House.
