Dominic's Glasses at 'In Plain Sight' Exhibition

London, UK October 2022 - February 2023

The Wellcome Collection is a free museum and library exploring health and human experience.

Our founder, Dominic Wilcox, created the 'One Foot Taller' periscope glasses. The inspiration for the specs sprang from a problem he encountered at a music venue, “I was standing at a gig and turned to see a small woman dancing away but unable to see the band. This gave me the inspiration to design a way for people to see over obstacles such as tall people like me”.  The glasses were chosen to be featured in the 'In Plain Sight' exhibition at the museum.

The exhibition explores the different ways we see and are seen by others. It questions the central place that sight holds in human society through the different experiences of sighted, partially sighted, and blind people. The collection of objects on show have been exhibited for four months, allowing visitors to explore and challenge the way they think about the visual tools through which we see our world.
