'Come & Play' at Expo Sunderland

Sunderland, UK

Expo Sunderland presented 'Come & Play', a pilot event aimed at Sunderland residents and visitors.

Expo Sunderland will explore the future of homes, living, and cities in a series of festivals in 2025, with attractions and taster events taking place this year.

One such event was 'Come & Play' which took place at The Bridges shopping centre. This event was aimed at under 17's and explored new innovations and emerging technologies.

Various businesses offered the chance try out fun games and see innovative ideas. On offer was everything from gaming and robotics to bullet-time photography and eco-fashion.

Ahead of the opening of Culture House in 2025, we are well into a research and development project as, together, we explore all things creativity. We joined in with 'Come & Play' by exploring creativity in all its forms. We challenged visitors to think about their own creativity and ask themselves, 'who needs creativity?'

Of course, reams of invention ideas were produced as young people got involved in thinking up a creation of their own.

Chief Inventor Dominic Wilcox was in attendance to lead visitors through their creative odyssey, as part of our own research into creativity.

He also resurfaced just a small taster of a Wilcox classic - The Lost and Found Office of Oddities!
