TARUS welcomes students for a visit

Michigan, UK

TARUS hosted Krause Elementary School of Armada School District for a field trip to showcase the work they're doing on a winning idea for the MISD Energy challenge.

Ariana's idea the HammoGlow was selected as one of the winning ideas to be bought to life. She was matched up with TARUS who went above and beyond our expectations and not only spent time brining Ariana's invention to life but also to invite the whole class along to see their facility.

Ariana's idea is a combination swing and hammock that generates electricity as the swing moves. The electricity generated lights up lights on the swing and can charge batteries for mobile phones.

The students got to see each stage of the process from ideation, to design and engineering, to machining, fabrication, paint, and final assembly.

Kellee Witgen, Science & Engineering teacher for K-5 students at Krause Elementary in Armada stated: “Our Little Inventor winner, Ariana, and her 4th grade classmates were thrilled to tour the TARUS facility and experience the world of engineering up close! From watching the massive Water Jet slice through metal, seeing the paint room up close, watching the innovative Claymill carve the design of a vehicle, and the 3D Printer in action, to learning how products are designed with CAD — it was a field trip full of discovery and inspiration. The kids left with not only great swag bags, but also big dreams! Thank you TARUS for inviting us on the tour and for working with Ariana as you create the prototype of her invention!”

Katie Hoepner who is managing the Little Inventors relationship for TARUS with Krause Elementary School said: "What a joy it was for TARUS to host the 4th grade class of Kraue Elementary School! The kids were so excited and eager to learn what TARUS had to show them. For TARUS, bringing inventing and engineering to these young minds is something we really care about. We couldn't wait to be a part of the Little Inventors Program. Working with Ariana to bring her invention to life has been very rewarding!"

And from Little Inventors we would like to say a big thank you to our magnificent makers TARUS who have gone above and beyond to inspire young minds!
